Children's Summer Events
Children Teaching Adults2005
Following in Gutenberg's Footsteps
2006
The overarching goal of these events is the building of community. Creative resources are used and developed and then given back to the community. The basic model is that of an existing resource becoming available to a wider portion of the community in order to
serve it. The building of community is focussed on the exchange of skills as well as forming of interpersonal connections. Children are the focus of these two events as they are often catalysts for bringing people together. The events were meant as precedents set for others to take on with other formats and activities.
Both events were supported by grants from the Indiana Arts Commission (IAC) and the Bloomington Community Arts Commission (BCAC). They took place in Karen Baldners home and studio in Bloomington, IN with small excursions into surrounding points of interest. Karen was coordinator and instructor with Laurie Shelton as film maker for the first event and the Ole Brereton/Mark Pallman team for the second event.
