The Presence of Your Absence

This ongoing body of drawings explores the space between absence and presence as an experience of potential and suspense. The drawings record in stream-of-consciousness language the experience of elusive memories that weave themselves  into the fabric of daily life. The handmade paper with its fluid formations is to lend an organic surface on which the image has room to shift. The paper is formed with the image in mind. The drawing then emerges in response to this surface in a combination of ink pen or charcoal line drawings, ink washes and photo copy transfers. This spontaneous flow moves synchronous with the image concept in a dance between idea and substrate.


Handmade paper sheets are made from abaca/flax with embedded horse hair, mixed media drawings, ranging in size from 8" x 11" to 15" x 20"
